Achieving Together

Preston Schools' Indoor Athletics Championships

On Friday, 30th January, our Year 7 pupils competed at the Preston Schools' Indoor Athletics Championships, held here at Broughton High School.  This was a fantastic event with ten secondary schools from across the Preston District in attendance.  The pupils competed in a number of individual sprint and team relay races along with the Standing Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Putt, Speed Bounce and the Vertical Jump.

Our Sports Leaders from Year 10 assisted with the running of the event and the PE staff would like to thank and congratulate them all on a fantastic professional performance and representing Broughton in the best possible light.  We had several compliments from visiting staff.

In the girls' competition Broughton placed first with 266 points, 15 points ahead of 2nd place.   The girls performed amazingly well, especially on the field events.  Our boys' team were also the overall winners with 313 points and we were 50 points ahead of 2nd place.  The boys were so impressive and won every single race on the track.

Congratulations to all involved.  Both teams now qualify for the Lancashire Indoor Championships representing Team Preston.
